Social Security Disability
There are two types of Social Security disability benefits available to United States citizens. Those benefits are Disability Insurance Benefits and Supplemental Security Income Benefits. An individual's physical and mental status determines their eligibility for these benefits. If, because of some medical condition, an individual is not capable of securing gainful employment, Social Security Disability may be available to them if the disabling condition is anticipated and continues beyond one year.
The other type of Social Security Disability is called Supplemental Security Income or "SSI" as it is more commonly called, is a form of disability for individuals who have not paid in sufficient quarters of social security wages to be entitled to Disability Insurance Benefits.
It is certainly worth an individual's time to visit with a knowledgeable attorney to discuss whether they may be eligible to file for Social Security Disability due to a medical condition preventing them from working. Please feel free to call this firm for a no cost consultation with an attorney in order to further understand your Social Security Benefits.
