If you are going through a divorce, or if you have a child outside of marriage and are not getting the help you deserve from the other parent, you likely have many concerns about child support.

Pursuing a Fair and Accurate Outcome

In Oklahoma, child support is calculated using a formula that takes into account the income of both parents, the number of children and some other factors. The goal of this process is to put the children in the financial position they would be in if they were being jointly cared for by both parents.

Often, when child support becomes an issue in a divorce case, it is because it is hard to determine the income of one or both parents.

We can work to accurately determine the income of parents who own cash-based businesses, have multiple jobs or work irregular hours.

In a paternity case, the parent with custody of the child can often obtain back child support for periods when the other parent was not providing financial support.

Seeking Modification When Circumstances Have Changed

Since child support is based on both parents' income, either parent can seek modification of the child support obligation if there has been a long-term change to either parent's income.

If you have lost a job, accepted a job with lower pay, lost your business or otherwise suffered a decrease in your income, or if your child's other parent is earning more than before, we may be able to help you pursue modification of the child support amount.

Contact us to discuss whether child support modification is an option for you.
